Towpath, Nickey Line, A41 fear, and the quiet lanes behind Bovingdon.

The Grand Union towpath is the safe spine. The Nickey Line, a former railway, points north-east out of Hemel. Quiet lanes around Flaunden, Chipperfield and Potten End are the Saturday ride if you can tolerate a climb.

The A41 and the Magic Roundabout are not a cycle strategy. Jarman Park’s new toucan crossing is a small correction. Hemel Garden Communities will be judged on whether a child can cycle to school without a parent’s pulse spiking.

Bike parking at Hemel, Berkhamsted and Tring stations is part of the commute maths. We will keep noting when it is inadequate.
