Bovingdon sits on a plateau south-west of Hemel, closer to Chesham in feel than to the New Town.
The former RAF station still shapes the map: Bovingdon Airfield Studios, HMP The Mount, open sky. The Saturday outdoor market that used the airfield closed in August 2022. Housing has grown; it is not a hamlet.
