Tudors sit sixth: Weston-super-Mare at Vauxhall Road on Saturday

Hemel Hempstead Town are sixth in National League South, with seven points from four matches, after Saturday’s 2-1 win at Salisbury. That is the table as of this morning. It is also the reason this paper has a sport desk that names the club, the ground and the kick-off, instead of borrowing a Premier League wonderkid to fill the homepage.

The first win of the campaign came on 15 August at Farnborough: 2-0, attendance 936, Stefan Parkes after 14 minutes, Remaye Campbell from the spot after 20. Three days later Maidenhead United won 1-0 at Vauxhall Road in front of 726. On 22 August David Longe-King’s goal was enough at Salisbury, 2-1, in a crowd of 1,178. Two away wins and a home defeat is not a crisis and it is not a title charge. It is a start.

Saturday 29 August, 3pm, Weston-super-Mare come to Vauxhall Road. They sit third. Bank Holiday Monday is Folkestone Invicta away.
